Kenect Alternatives for Dealers: Texting, Reviews and CRM Connection Compared
Compare four Kenect alternatives for dealers on texting, reviews, payments, AI approval and DMS links, plus a checklist for exporting data before you leave.
The best Kenect alternative depends on which Kenect jobs your dealership relies on: texting, reviews, text-to-pay, service AI or voice AI. Podium is the closest like-for-like swap for car dealers, Matador and Dealer Funnel add AI that answers leads, and Shiftix Cloud puts texting and review requests inside a CRM that works beside your DMS.
At a glance
- Podium suits car dealers that want the same mix as Kenect (texting, review invites, payments and phones) from one vendor, plus an AI BDC that Podium says follows up on its own.
- Matador suits car and powersports dealers that want AI agents for replies, follow-up and phone calls working beside their current CRM.
- Dealer Funnel suits car dealers that want an AI-assisted inbox for text, calls, chat and email, published pricing and month-to-month terms, and that can handle payments elsewhere.
- Shiftix Cloud suits auto, RV, marine and powersports dealers that want texting, review requests and service payment links inside the CRM, with staff approving AI follow-up drafts.
- Kenect's standard terms say access to your data ends when the subscription ends and that Kenect "does not provide an archiving service," so plan your export before you give notice.
How we compared Kenect alternatives
We compared four alternatives on the same criteria for every option, using each vendor's own website and published terms. Shiftix Cloud publishes this guide and is one of the products compared.
- How options were chosen: the pages that rank for "Kenect alternatives" are mostly review-site lists and single-vendor pages that compare one product with Kenect, such as the Dealer Funnel Kenect comparison and Ready's Kenect alternative post. We chose options that describe dealerships as a main market and cover at least texting plus one other Kenect job: Podium, Matador, Dealer Funnel and Shiftix Cloud.
- Evidence: each vendor's own pages, read on October 29, 2026, plus Kenect's and Podium's online terms of service. Nothing was tested first-hand, and no vendor reviewed this guide.
- Criteria: what the product is, who it is built for, texting and inbox, reviews, payments, phone and voice AI, who approves AI messages, DMS and CRM integrations, whether pricing is published, contract terms as published, and who it suits.
- "Not stated" means the pages we read did not cover a point. It does not mean the product lacks it.
- No prices. We say only whether each vendor publishes pricing.
What Kenect does for dealers, according to Kenect
Kenect sells dealers a texting, reviews and payments platform with service AI on top, and its Kenect company page calls it "the leading AI platform for dealerships across North America." Kenect is not a CRM or a DMS in its own description; its integrations page shows it syncing with both.
- Who uses it: the company page lists automotive, RV, powersports, marine, equipment and outdoor power dealers. It says Kenect is "trusted by over 10,000 automotive businesses" and that "More than 75% of RV and trailer dealers in North America use Kenect." Both are Kenect's own claims.
- Messaging: Text Messaging, WebChat and Broadcast Messaging. The Kenect text messaging page promises to "Bring all your communications into one centralized platform."
- Reviews: a Reputation Management Suite, Private Feedback and Review Responses. The Kenect reputation page describes review requests by text that can be automated from DMS triggers, and says "Kenect's team of experts can reply to reviews on your behalf."
- Payments: Text to Pay and Pay Over Time. The Kenect Text to Pay page describes staff sending a payment request from the Kenect inbox.
- Service AI: the Kenect Engage AI page describes appointment reminders, service status texts, recall campaigns and pre-CSI check-ins. The Kenect Voice AI page says it can "answer inbound phone calls" and push appointments to the DMS calendar. Neither page says whether staff approve AI messages before they send.
- Integrations: the Kenect integrations page names more than 30 systems, from Dealertrack, CDK Drive, CDK eLead, VinSolutions, DealerSocket, Tekion and PBS to Lightspeed, DX1, EverLogic, Traffic Log Pro, Winboats and DockMaster, with a one-line note on what each sync does.
- Pricing: not published on the pages we read.
- Contract: section 10.1 of the Kenect terms of service (last updated April 4, 2025) says the term is set in your Enrollment Form, with 12 months as the default, and that subscriptions "will automatically renew for subsequent periods of equal duration" unless either side gives written notice at least 30 days before the term ends.
The Kenect function map: what each alternative replaces
Leaving Kenect can mean replacing up to eight jobs, and none of the four alternatives replaces all eight in the same way. Mark the jobs your store uses every week, then check each one against this map. The map reflects what each vendor's pages describe, not tested results.
- Two-way texting and a shared inbox: Podium, Matador, Dealer Funnel and Shiftix Cloud all describe one.
- Website chat that becomes a text conversation: Podium (textable webchat), Dealer Funnel (web chat in the inbox), Matador (Chat AI is listed) and Shiftix Cloud (live chat in the inbox).
- Broadcast texts to a customer list: Matador (text broadcasts to CRM lists). Not stated for Podium, Dealer Funnel or Shiftix Cloud on the pages we read.
- Review requests by text: Podium (textable review invites), Matador (review invites after each sale and repair order) and Shiftix Cloud (review requests by SMS and email). Not described on Dealer Funnel's home page.
- Replies to online reviews written for you: Kenect offers this as a managed service. None of the four alternatives describes a team that writes review replies on the pages we read.
- Text-to-pay: Podium (payments in its app) and Shiftix Cloud (SMS and email payment links for service). Not stated for Matador. Dealer Funnel's Kenect comparison says payments stay with your DMS and F&I tools.
- Service reminders, status texts and recall outreach: Kenect's Engage AI covers all three. Shiftix Cloud describes reminders and status updates but not recall outreach. Matador and Dealer Funnel describe AI that books service appointments; reminders and recall texts are not stated on the pages we read.
- AI that answers phone calls: Matador (Call AI), Dealer Funnel (Voice AI) and Podium (Jerry works phone calls). Shiftix Cloud describes call routing and call summaries, not an AI that answers calls.
Texting and AI alternatives: Podium and Matador
Podium and Matador both pair a texting inbox with AI that works leads, but Podium also covers payments while Matador sits on top of your existing CRM. Neither mentions RV or marine dealers on the pages we read.
Podium
- What it is: a texting, reviews, payments and AI platform. The Podium automotive site says "6,000+ dealerships trust Podium."
- Built for: car dealers among other industries. RV, marine and powersports are not mentioned on the Podium automotive texting page.
- Texting and inbox: "Bring every lead, from any source, into a single inbox," with a textable webchat form.
- Reviews: Google review management with textable review invites.
- Payments: payments are listed in the mobile app.
- Phone and voice AI: calls from business numbers through the web and mobile app, and Jerry responds across "text, phone calls, webchat, social, and email."
- AI and who approves: Podium says Jerry "follows up 100% autonomously." Its manager agent, Operator, works differently: "nothing goes out until you approve it."
- DMS and CRM integrations: logos for CDK Global, Reynolds and Reynolds, Dealertrack, VinSolutions, DealerSocket, Tekion, DealerVault and Titan DMS. What data moves is not stated.
- Pricing: not published; the Podium pricing page asks for a custom quote.
- Contract: the Podium terms of service set a 12-month initial term that renews automatically unless written notice is given 30 days before it ends. Section 8.4.1 lets you export data "at any time during the Subscription Term."
- Who it suits: car dealers that want Kenect's mix of texting, reviews and payments from a single vendor, and that are comfortable with an AI that follows up without approval. Our Podium alternatives guide covers the reverse move.
Matador
- What it is: "Conversational AI for car dealerships," according to Matador's site summary, which says Matador is "not a CRM" and works alongside the dealer's CRM with five AI agents.
- Built for: car dealers, with a Matador powersports page. RV and marine are not mentioned.
- Texting and inbox: an omni-channel inbox that keeps "every channel in one thread per customer," text broadcasts, and a browser extension for texting from inside a CRM.
- Reviews: automated review invites after each sale and repair order, plus NPS capture.
- Payments: not stated.
- Phone and voice AI: Call AI answers calls as a receptionist, sales line and service scheduler, booking service appointments into Xtime.
- AI and who approves: not stated. The powersports page says AI Reply "works every one" of the replies to a text blast. Ask Matador what its agents send without a person.
- DMS and CRM integrations: VinSolutions, eLead, DealerSocket, Tekion, Reynolds and Reynolds, CDK, PBS, Dealertrack, Activix and Xtime are named; the powersports page adds Dealer Spike inventory.
- Pricing: not published on the pages we read.
- Contract: "Subscriptions carry a six-month minimum commitment."
- Who it suits: car and powersports dealers that want AI agents for replies, follow-up and calls on top of the CRM they already use. Our Matador AI alternatives guide covers Matador in more depth.
Inbox and CRM alternatives: Dealer Funnel and Shiftix Cloud
Dealer Funnel and Shiftix Cloud both put conversations and lead work in one place, but Dealer Funnel syncs with your existing CRM for car dealers, while Shiftix Cloud is a CRM for four dealer types. Both differ from Kenect on reviews and payments.
Dealer Funnel
- What it is: "The platform car dealerships run their whole BDC on," according to the Dealer Funnel home page, with an inbox, appointments, deals, reporting and calling.
- Built for: car dealerships only.
- Texting and inbox: texts, calls, web chat, Facebook messages and email in one inbox, with call recording and summaries.
- Reviews: review requests are not described on the home page.
- Payments: not offered; its Kenect comparison page says payments stay with the dealer's DMS and F&I tools.
- Phone and voice AI: a browser soft phone and Voice AI that answers calls, including service booking.
- AI and who approves: two modes. In the inbox, "Carly writes. Your people pick, edit, and send." Carly can also send replies on its own, with staff able to take over at any time.
- DMS and CRM integrations: two-way sync with VinSolutions, CDK eLead, Tekion, Reynolds and Reynolds, DealerSocket, ProMax and Cox Automotive is listed.
- Pricing: published, based on lead volume.
- Contract: month to month with no long-term contracts, per the home page.
- Who it suits: car dealers that want to keep their CRM, add AI that answers texts and calls, and are happy to handle payments and review requests elsewhere. Its Kenect comparison is a competitor's page, so verify its claims about Kenect yourself.
Shiftix Cloud
- What it is: a Customer Operations Platform with a CRM, the Unified Customer Inbox and Aria AI Assistant. Shiftix Cloud is not a DMS; the CRM page says "the DMS continues as the operational system of record."
- Built for: auto, RV, marine and powersports dealers. It does not sell to equipment or trailer dealers.
- Texting and inbox: phone, email, SMS, website forms, Facebook Messenger and live chat in one inbox tied to the customer record, with STOP and UNSUBSCRIBE keywords recognized for Shiftix-managed messaging.
- Reviews: the Shiftix Cloud marketing page describes Review Builder, a review-request workflow by SMS and email after completed customer interactions. Replies to online reviews are not described.
- Payments: the Improved Service Communications page lists "SMS and email payment links for mobile checkout," along with appointment reminders and service status updates.
- Phone and voice AI: inbound calls "can ring to the right team," with transfers and click-to-call depending on the voice setup. The Aria AI Assistant page describes call summaries, not an AI that answers calls.
- AI and who approves: Aria AI Assistant prepares SMS and email follow-up "for a team member to review and approve." The same page says it "replies to new leads in under a minute," so ask how first replies are set up for your store.
- DMS and CRM integrations: the Shiftix Cloud integrations page lists DMS platforms including CDK (Drive), Reynolds and Reynolds, Dealertrack, Tekion, Lightspeed, Dominion, EverLogic, IDS and PBS. It says named providers are "examples of potential connection targets" and that "availability, data direction, permissions, and setup are confirmed during implementation."
- Pricing: published on the Shiftix Cloud pricing page, with the top tier quoted by sales. Cost depends mainly on users, rooftops, plan tier and communications capacity.
- Contract: not stated on the pages we read.
- Who it suits: auto, RV, marine and powersports dealers that want texting, review requests and service payment links in the same system as their leads, and staff approval on AI follow-up.
Keeping Kenect and connecting it to a CRM instead
Keeping Kenect for texting and reviews and connecting it to a better CRM is a real option, and it may be the right one if your team likes Kenect's review service. Kenect's integrations page lists CRM syncs such as VinSolutions, CDK eLead, DealerSocket, DP360 and HubSpot.
Shiftix Cloud's integrations page also lists Kenect under communications as "Lead push & CRM sync." The page does not say what data moves in each direction, so ask both vendors to show you which conversations, contacts and opt-outs reach the CRM record before you decide. If the main problem is slow follow-up rather than the texting tool, fixing the CRM side may solve more than a texting switch would.
RV, marine, powersports and equipment dealers: check your system first
RV, marine, powersports and equipment dealers should check their DMS against each vendor's integrations list before anything else, because Kenect names many specialty dealer systems that the car-focused alternatives do not. Here is what the pages we read show.
- Lightspeed, EverLogic, IDS, PBS and Dominion: named on Kenect's integrations page (Dominion as "ZiiDMS (Dominion)") and listed as DMS platforms on Shiftix Cloud's integrations page.
- DX1, Traffic Log Pro, Total Control Software, Winboats, DockMaster and Blackpurl: named on Kenect's integrations page. We did not find them on the Podium, Matador, Dealer Funnel or Shiftix Cloud pages we read.
- Dealer Spike inventory: named on Matador's powersports page and on Shiftix Cloud's integrations page under inventory.
- Equipment and trailer dealers: Kenect's company page names equipment dealers and RV and trailer dealers. Shiftix Cloud does not sell to equipment or trailer dealers, and the other three alternatives do not mention them, so these stores may be best served by staying with Kenect.
Our guides to RV dealer software and powersports dealer software compare the CRM and DMS options for those stores on one set of criteria.
Kenect exit checklist
A Kenect exit goes smoothly when the export, notice, numbers and texting registration are handled before the new tool goes live. Work through these steps in order, and check your own Enrollment Form, because it can differ from the standard terms.
- Find your term end date. Kenect's terms default to 12 months and renew automatically unless written notice reaches Kenect at least 30 days before the term ends.
- Export your data before the term ends. Section 10.3 of Kenect's terms says your right to access client data "will cease" at termination and that Kenect "may delete any such data in its possession at any time." Section 5.4 says "Kenect does not provide an archiving service." The terms do not describe an export process, so ask Kenect in writing what it can export: conversation history, contacts, opt-outs and review history.
- Carry over consent and opt-outs. Load the list of customers who texted STOP into the new system before the first message. Our guide to dealership text messaging rules explains consent by type of text.
- Port your numbers before you cancel. The FCC number portability guide says your old company "cannot refuse to port your number, even if you owe money," and advises: "Do not terminate your service with your existing company before initiating new service." Confirm with both vendors whether your texting numbers port the same way as voice lines.
- Re-register business texting. The new provider will need your brand and campaign registered; our 10DLC registration guide for dealerships covers the steps.
- List every DMS trigger Kenect runs. Kenect sends texts from deal status, closed repair orders and other DMS events. Write down each one, including review requests and recall texts, and rebuild it in the new system. Our service reminder templates and review request text templates can help with the wording.
- Swap customer-facing links on cutover day. Webchat code on your website, review-request links and open text-to-pay requests all point at Kenect.
- Decide who answers calls Voice AI handled. If Kenect's Voice AI answers service calls today, set up the replacement routing before the switch.
If you want to see where leads and follow-up are slipping before you pick a replacement, the complimentary Revenue Leak Audit from Shiftix Cloud reviews lead response and follow-up with no obligation.
Which Kenect alternative should you choose?
The right Kenect alternative is the one that covers the jobs you marked on the function map and connects to your DMS. Use these rules as a starting point.
- You are a car dealer and want the same mix as Kenect from another vendor: shortlist Podium, and decide whether you want an AI that follows up without approval.
- You want AI agents that answer texts and calls on top of your current CRM: shortlist Matador (car and powersports) or Dealer Funnel (car dealers, month-to-month terms), and ask each what the AI sends without a person.
- You want texting, review requests and service payment links inside the CRM, with staff approving AI drafts: shortlist Shiftix Cloud's Unified Customer Inbox and CRM.
- You rely on Kenect's managed review replies or run an equipment or trailer store: consider keeping Kenect and fixing the CRM connection instead.
- Your DMS is DX1, Winboats, DockMaster or Traffic Log Pro: ask every alternative for a written answer on that system before a demo.
Frequently asked questions
Is Kenect a CRM?
No, Kenect does not describe itself as a CRM. Its company page lists texting, webchat, reviews, payments and service AI, and its integrations page shows Kenect syncing contacts and conversation history with CRMs such as VinSolutions, CDK eLead, DealerSocket and HubSpot. Dealers who switch away from Kenect usually still need a CRM, or a texting tool that connects to the one they have.
Does Kenect publish its pricing?
No, Kenect does not publish pricing on the pages read for this guide, and its company page links to no pricing page. Ask Kenect for a written quote that separates texting, reviews, payments and the AI products, and check the term length in your Enrollment Form, because the standard terms default to 12 months with automatic renewal.
Does Kenect have a contract that renews automatically?
Yes, under Kenect's standard terms of service. Section 10.1 says the term is set in the Enrollment Form, defaults to 12 months and renews automatically for the same length unless either side gives written notice at least 30 days before the term ends. Your Enrollment Form can set different terms, so read it before you plan a switch.
Do Google reviews disappear if a dealership cancels Kenect?
No. Reviews that customers posted on Google sit on the dealership's Google Business Profile, not inside Kenect, so they stay after cancellation. What stops are Kenect's review-request links, its review dashboard and any replies Kenect's team writes for you, so export your review history and set up the new request flow before the term ends.
Find where leads slip before you change texting tools
A new texting tool fixes some problems and carries others over. The Revenue Leak Audit from Shiftix Cloud is complimentary, with no obligation and no software purchase required. It looks at lead response, follow-up, conversion, customer retention, accountability and workflow, and Shiftix walks through the findings with you, whichever tool you choose.
