Elead CRM Alternatives for Dealers: Five Options and a Switching Checklist
Compare five Elead CRM alternatives on the same criteria, then use a switching checklist for contracts, data exports, opt-outs and lead routing.
The best Elead CRM alternative depends on what your store wants to change. Tekion builds its CRM into its own DMS. VinSolutions, DriveCentric, AutoRaptor and Shiftix Cloud work alongside the DMS you already run. This guide compares all five with CDK Elead CRM on the same criteria and adds a checklist for switching safely.
At a glance
- CDK Elead CRM still suits stores that are content with it, since CDK describes integration with all major DMS providers and offers online or on-site training.
- VinSolutions Connect CRM suits franchise stores that want another established automotive CRM, with GenAI drafts that staff review and approve before sending.
- Tekion CRM suits dealers already on, or moving to, Tekion's platform, because Tekion describes its CRM as an extension of its DMS.
- DriveCentric and AutoRaptor suit stores that want texting, video or AI lead response at the center of the CRM; AutoRaptor states human approval on every AI send.
- Shiftix Cloud suits auto, RV, marine and powersports dealers who want a CRM and Unified Customer Inbox beside their DMS, with Aria AI Assistant drafts that staff approve.
How we compared Elead CRM alternatives
We chose five Elead CRM alternatives that are built for car dealerships, rather than general-purpose CRMs, because each vendor's own pages describe dealership lead handling and DMS connections. Shiftix Cloud publishes this guide and is one of the products compared.
- Evidence: each vendor's own website, read in October 2026. Nothing was tested first-hand, and no vendor reviewed this guide.
- Criteria: what the product is, lead handling, texting and email, DMS connection, AI and who controls it, help with switching, whether pricing is published, and who it suits.
- "Not stated" means the pages we read did not cover a point. It does not mean the product lacks it.
- No prices. We say only whether each vendor publishes pricing.
For a wider look at car dealership CRMs, including a six-point scoring checklist, see our guide to the best CRM for car dealerships. This guide is narrower: it is for stores already on Elead that are weighing a move.
What CDK Elead CRM offers, according to CDK
CDK Elead CRM is CDK Global's automotive CRM, which CDK's Elead CRM overview calls "a fully integrated cloud-based CRM." That overview carries a 2023 copyright, so check current features with CDK.
- What it is: a cloud-based dealership CRM sold by CDK Global, which also sells a DMS.
- Lead handling: the overview says Elead helps dealers capture more leads and convert them, and offers customized auto-responders that send vehicle details, photos and alternative vehicles.
- Calls: telephony integration "tracks, logs and maps all incoming calls, including missed calls," with all major phone providers.
- Texting and email: not stated on the overview we read.
- DMS connection: "fast and flexible integration with all major DMS providers."
- AI: not stated on the overview we read.
- Management tools: a performance dashboard, reports and a self-service workflow editor.
- Training: online or on-site training and customer support.
- Pricing: not published on the overview.
Dealers usually review a CRM at a contract renewal, a DMS change, a change of ownership or a new approach to lead handling. Those are general triggers, not findings about Elead. If Elead still fits, the switching checklist below works just as well as a renewal review.
VinSolutions and Tekion CRM as Elead alternatives
VinSolutions and Tekion are the large-vendor options: VinSolutions comes from Cox Automotive, and Tekion's CRM is part of its own dealer platform.
VinSolutions Connect CRM
- What it is: a dealership CRM from VinSolutions, "powered by Cox Automotive," according to the Connect CRM page.
- Lead handling: manages leads, inventory and communications in one platform and automates follow-ups with recent customers and leads.
- Texting and email: email and text templates for assigned tasks; MMS messaging is listed as an add-on.
- DMS connection: the Connect CRM page refers to integrations with Cox Automotive and other industry software but does not name DMS providers.
- AI and staff control: the VinSolutions AI page says GenAI drafts emails and texts when activated, and "your team reviews, edits, and approves messages before they are sent."
- Switching help: not stated; a New User Onboarding training link appears in the menu.
- Pricing: not published. Buyers are directed to a demo.
- Who it suits: franchise stores that want an established automotive CRM from a large vendor.
Tekion CRM
- What it is: the CRM in Tekion's Automotive Retail Cloud (ARC). The Tekion CRM page says ARC CRM "is natively built into the dealership platform."
- Lead handling: lead scoring to capture, prioritize and route leads automatically.
- Texting and email: email, SMS and personalized outreach built into sales and service workflows.
- DMS connection: "CRM is an extension of your DMS, not bolted on." The page does not say whether it works with another vendor's DMS.
- AI and staff control: AI lead summaries, suggested replies and follow-up timing. An approval step for AI messages is not stated.
- Switching help: the implementation section mentions discovery sessions, a first data pass, training, and "final data conversion with full live support."
- Pricing: not published.
- Who it suits: dealers already on Tekion's DMS, or planning to move to it, who want CRM and DMS data in one place.
DriveCentric, AutoRaptor and Shiftix Cloud as Elead alternatives
DriveCentric, AutoRaptor and Shiftix Cloud are independent of any DMS vendor and lead with customer messaging, AI-assisted response or a shared inbox.
DriveCentric
- What it is: a dealership CRM that the DriveCentric home page calls "the CRM your dealership wants to use."
- Lead handling: post-sale follow-up with automated follow-ups, service reminders and trade-in offers; a separate Service Engagement Hub is listed.
- Texting and email: built-in texting, email and live video.
- DMS connection: the DriveCentric integrations page names nine DMS providers, including CDK Global, Reynolds and Reynolds, Dealertrack and Tekion, and advertises more than 100 integrations.
- AI and staff control: an AI agent described as "a virtual team member that engages new leads automatically (24/7)." An approval step is not stated.
- Switching help: not stated.
- Pricing: not published.
- Who it suits: stores that want texting, video and automated engagement at the center of the CRM.
AutoRaptor
- What it is: a CRM that, on its AI Sales Assistant page, names independent dealerships and high-volume internet lead operations as its users.
- Lead handling: an AI assistant that responds to inbound leads by text, email and chat at any hour.
- Texting and email: text, email and chat replies through the AI assistant.
- DMS connection: the AutoRaptor integrations page says it "supports DMS integrations for many dealership systems" and lists 80+ lead source and dealership integrations.
- AI and staff control: "Human approval on every send," with business rules, scripts, tone, hours and routing set in admin settings.
- Switching help: integrations are configured during onboarding by a specialist; moving data from another CRM is not stated.
- Pricing: the AutoRaptor pricing page shows tiers by user count, with figures given on request.
- Who it suits: independent and high-volume stores that want fast AI response with a human approving each message.
Shiftix Cloud
- What it is: a Customer Operations Platform that works alongside a dealer's DMS, ERP and accounting systems. It is not a DMS. Its CRM sits beside the Unified Customer Inbox.
- Lead handling: condition-based routing by source, vehicle type, location or round-robin, with assignment gap monitoring, follow-up reminders, and lead aging and stall flags.
- Texting and email: phone, email, SMS, website forms, Facebook Messenger and live chat in one inbox. STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE and equivalent keywords are honored permanently for Shiftix-managed messaging.
- DMS connection: the integrations page lists CDK (Drive), Reynolds & Reynolds, Dealertrack and Tekion among its DMS platforms, and says availability, data direction, permissions and setup are confirmed during implementation.
- AI and staff control: the Aria AI Assistant drafts follow-up and summarizes call context. It is human-controlled: staff review and approve before anything is sent.
- Switching help: the integrations page describes a one-time migration from a previous CRM where supported, covering available customer records, opportunities, notes and activity history. It does not name Elead as a source, so confirm scope in your setup.
- Pricing: published on the Shiftix Cloud pricing page. That page says data cleanup and complex migrations may carry a separate implementation fee agreed before work begins.
- Who it suits: auto, RV, marine and powersports dealers who want CRM, messaging and AI drafts in one place without changing their DMS.

Elead switching checklist: what to settle before, during and after
A safe Elead switch depends on settling contracts, data, consent records and lead routing before the new CRM goes live. The checklist below is our recommendation, not a vendor requirement, and the order matters more than the speed.
Before you sign a new CRM contract
- Find your current Elead agreement and note the end date, notice period and any terms about data access after cancellation.
- Ask CDK in writing what export formats you can get, what history is included (notes, call logs, texts, emails) and how long access lasts after the end date.
- Ask each new vendor which records it can import from an Elead export, and get the answer in writing. "Where supported" on a vendor page is not a yes.
- Confirm the new CRM's connection to your DMS by name, and ask which records move and in which direction.
- Review the new vendor's security terms. The FTC Safeguards Rule requires covered businesses to oversee their service providers, and the FTC's Safeguards Rule guidance says contracts "must spell out your security expectations."
Data to export from Elead
- Customer and prospect records, with source, assigned salesperson and status.
- Open opportunities, appointments and scheduled tasks, so no follow-up is dropped on cutover day.
- Notes, call logs and message history, if CDK can provide them.
- Text and email opt-outs and consent records. These matter most. Under current FCC rules, customers can revoke consent to calls and texts by any reasonable means, and revocations must be honored within a reasonable time, not more than 10 business days, as summarized by Troutman Pepper Locke in September 2026. The FCC revised related rules in 2026, so confirm current requirements with your counsel.
- Templates, auto-responder wording and workflow rules you want to rebuild.
Cutover week
- List every lead source that posts into Elead: OEM programs, third-party sites, your website forms and chat. Re-point each one and send a test lead.
- Decide what happens to the phone and text numbers customers already use. Ask both vendors whether numbers can be ported and how long it takes.
- Import opt-outs before any campaign or automated message runs in the new CRM.
- Agree a cutoff time after which no one works leads in Elead, and assign an owner for leads that arrive in the old system late.
First 30 days on the new CRM
- Check daily that every lead source is still arriving and being assigned.
- Compare first-response time and appointment counts with your Elead baseline. Our speed to lead research summary explains why response time is worth watching.
- Spot-check that opted-out customers are not receiving texts. Our guide to dealership text messaging covers consent and opt-out practice in more depth.
- Plan for the old records. The FTC guidance says customer information should be disposed of securely no later than two years after its most recent use, unless there is a business or legal reason to keep it.
Which Elead CRM alternative should you choose?
The right Elead CRM alternative follows from two decisions: whether you want the CRM inside your DMS, and how much of first response you want AI to handle.
- Moving to, or already on, Tekion: start with Tekion CRM, and test how well its CRM features match what you use in Elead today.
- Keeping your current DMS and wanting a large-vendor CRM: compare VinSolutions Connect CRM with Elead at renewal.
- Wanting messaging or AI response at the center: compare DriveCentric, AutoRaptor and Shiftix Cloud, and ask each one who approves AI messages before they are sent.
- Running more than one vertical, such as auto and RV: check which vendors serve every store you run; Shiftix Cloud serves auto, RV, marine and powersports dealers.
- Not sure Elead is the problem: measure response time and follow-up first. A slow process often moves with you to the new CRM.

Frequently asked questions
Is Elead CRM part of CDK Global?
Yes. CDK Global sells Elead under the name CDK Elead CRM, and describes it as a fully integrated cloud-based CRM. CDK also sells a dealer management system, but its Elead overview says the CRM integrates with all major DMS providers, so a store does not need a CDK DMS to use Elead. Check current terms with CDK.
Can you use a different CRM if your DMS is from CDK?
Usually yes, but confirm the connection by name. Several dealership CRMs list CDK among their DMS integrations, including DriveCentric and Shiftix Cloud, which lists CDK (Drive). Integration pages rarely say which records move or in which direction, so ask each vendor what syncs, how often, and whether any DMS access fee applies.
How much does Elead CRM cost?
CDK does not publish Elead CRM pricing on the overview we read. Dealership CRM cost usually depends on the number of users and rooftops, the modules chosen, messaging volume and any DMS connection fees. Ask for a written quote that lists each of these, and compare quotes on the same basis.
What happens to your Elead data when you cancel?
Your Elead agreement and CDK's export options decide what you can take with you, so ask before you give notice. Request exports of customers, open opportunities, notes, message history and opt-out records, and confirm how long you can access the old system after the contract ends. Keep opt-out records in particular.
Find where leads slip before you switch CRMs
A new CRM fixes some problems and carries others over. The Revenue Leak Audit from Shiftix Cloud is complimentary, with no obligation and no software purchase required. It looks at lead response, follow-up, conversion, customer retention, accountability and workflow, and Shiftix walks through the findings with you, whichever CRM you choose.
